2026 Social Studies Fair

Students across Monongalia County recently showcased their curiosity, research skills, and creativity during the 2026 Monongalia County Social Studies Fair. After a competitive county event, 15 outstanding student projects have been selected to advance to the Region VII Social Studies Fair.

The Social Studies Fair process begins at the school level, where students may enter projects in 10 different categories, either individually or as a group.

At the county competition, judges review projects and select one winner per category to represent Monongalia County at the regional competition. This year’s regional event will take place April 7 at Glenville State University.

Students who earn top honors at the regional level will move on to the West Virginia State Social Studies Fair, scheduled for April 28 in Charleston.

The Social Studies Fair encourages students to explore historical events, cultures, economics, geography, and civic engagement while developing research and presentation skills. Through this process, students gain valuable experience investigating real-world topics and sharing their findings with others.

Monongalia County Schools congratulates all of the students who participated and wishes the regional qualifiers the best of luck as they represent the county at the Region VII competition.
